the manufacturing industry in the early 20th century, however, initial applications revealed certain limitations despite its impressive strength. Driven by the need for higher performance at high temperatures, metalworkers began the search for alternative materials capable of offering more strength and better corrosion resistance, experimenting with various alloys, including nickel and chrome. These efforts led to the development of Superalloys, which guaranteed not only excellent stability but also mechanical strength, as well as corrosion and creep resistance at temperatures above 530 degrees Celsius. Besides commonplace iron fasteners, he also proposed a series of new products in stainless steel that would truly set him apart from his competitors. Manstretta called his company GAMMA OFFICINE MECCANICHE (Gamma Mechanical Machine Shops) inspired by GAMMA IRON(1), a material constituting the basis of several Superalloys, today known as Austenitic Stainless Steels.<\/p><p><em>(1) Gamma iron is an allotropic form of iron. It is a metallic, non-magnetic allotrope of iron.
